The Budapest-based company closes successful year in the Mediterranean country
Renowned lighting expert Tungsram Group signed an agreement in December to install the lighting of “Túnel de Tresponts” in Catalunya, Spain. The project marks the 6th tunnel lighting deal that the Budapest-based company has been awarded in Spain in 2020, a considerable achievement in light of the economic difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Hungary-based Tungsram Group has been awarded the contract to install the lighting of the “Túnel de Tresponts”, also referred to as Organya, in Spain. Organya is a municipality in the comarca of the Alt Urgell in Catalonia. The town is situated on the right bank of the Segre River below the Trespons gorge. The construction of the nearly 1.3 kilometre-long tunnel commenced in 2017.
Tungsram’s LED based lighting solution offers enhanced safety for drivers and optical supremacy compared to its competitors. Using LEDs increases the colour temperature, which makes the environment look natural and allows drivers more ample response times. The lack of glare is also a key advantage of the Tungsram solution.
The “Túnel de Tresponts” is designed to improve the safety of this section of the C-14 national road in the face of frequent rock falls onto the road. The tunnel is the most outstanding element of the improvement works on this section of the C-14, which have a budget of EUR 35.4 million.
Tungsram has won an additional five (5) contracts in Spain in 2020 to install LED-based lighting in various tunnels across the country (Túnel de la Vall d´en Bas, Túnel de Bonanova 1, Túnel de Joanet, Túnel de Lloret and Túnel Villalba Saserras). The total tally of six (6) tunnel lighting projects in the Mediterranean country alone is testament to the professional excellence and cost efficiency that Tungsram’s solutions offer.
